i Lead Counselling

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) was established as the regulator under the National Credit Act, and is responsible for the regulation of the credit industry, education, research, policy development, registration of industry participants, as well as investigation of complaints, and to ensure the enforcement of the Act. The Act calls for debt counselling to be easily available to all South Africans, and Damelin is one of the institutions chosen to conduct this training on behalf of the NCR.

Debt Counselling Courses:

• Must be over the age of 23 and have a minimum of two years experience in accounting, finance, legal, para-legal or credit fields.
• Five day course developed by the NCR before applying for registration with the NCR (National Credit Regulator) as a professional debt counsellor.
• Listening and communication skills, as well as interviewing skills. Budgeting and personal financial management know-how.
